Can I convert my Firewire port to a USB port?

The title pretty asks the question, but... Is it possible to convert a firewire port so that I can connect a USB device to it?

Maybe wrong, but I would not think so Firewire and USB work in different ways - it's not just a case of getting a wire with the right plugs at each end it would need some sort of clever interface which would be costly if indeed such a thing is avalible ?

FireWire to USB is impossible, they use vastly different controllers and protocols for data transfer.

There are some USB to FireWire cables on the market, but it is dependable on the device you wish to connect.

There is no FireWire to a USB port conversation that I'm aware of.
